The only way to do something in depth is to work hard. Dressing is a way of life. Comfort is very important to me. I think people live better in big houses and in big clothes. Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it. Awkwardness gives me great comfort. I've never been cool, but I've felt cool. I've been in the cool place, but I wasn't really cool - I was trying to pass for hip or cool. It's the awkwardness that's nice.
I think the fashion is super serious and humor is suspect and people don't always know how to approach it. Sometimes people have questioned whether I was making fun of the industry or just at myself. I'm just trying to raise a smile. Clothes aren't meant to be worshipped at a church altar. I have a different approach to most designers.
